[From Ron Thomas]
The word “thanksgiving” conjures thoughts of family gatherings, a national holiday, feasting, football and warm reflections on how blessed we are. This year, much of what is normally a part of the seasonal observance will be altered because of COVID-19, civil unrest and political upheaval. But remember how often we have seen God lead his people through dark seasons throughout history. We must remember “his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations” and give him thanks.
Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth!
Serve the LORD with gladness!
Come into his presence with singing!
Know that the LORD, he is God!
It is he who made us, and we are his;
we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
Enter his gates with thanksgiving,
and his courts with praise!
Give thanks to him; bless his name!
For the LORD is good;
his steadfast love endures forever,
and his faithfulness to all generations. (Psalm 100:1-5)
You are my God, and I will give thanks to you;
you are my God; I will extol you.
Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good;
for his steadfast love endures forever! (Psalm 118:28-29)
Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good,
for his steadfast love endures forever. (Psalm 136:1)
The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases;
his mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness. (Lamentations 3:22-23)
