And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. (Acts 2:42)
This post is for Dulin’s Grovers who want to take a specific step forward in their devotion to God in 2015. Look over the following ideas, pick one and go for it!
Trusting in Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord, devote yourself:
To the Teaching
- By establishing and executing a Bible study plan and responding specifically to what you read.
- By asking an older believer to hold you accountable and be available for questions as you move forward.
- By offering to do the same for a younger believer.
- By responding to each sermon in at least one specific way, writing it down and posting it somewhere you’ll see it during the week.
- By joining a House to House group.
- By joining a Sunday school class.
- By emailing Pastor Matt to sign up for Right Now Media, an online training tool.
- By reading a good book from the book exchange library.
To the Fellowship
- By joining a House to House group to get to know people better.
- By joining a Sunday school class to get to know people better.
- By communicating with a deacon about how you can help your brothers and sisters in material need, or how your brothers and sisters can help you.
- By clearing something from your regular schedule so you have more time to spend with your brothers and sisters.
- By fixing up your home (if necessary) so that you can invite brothers and sisters over.
To the Breaking of Bread
- By making your family meals more meaningful with a real prayer time, a scripture reading or going around the table and sharing testimonies of what God has done in your family that day.
- By using one meal per week to spend meaningful time with a brother or sister (and their family).
- By joining the Wednesday House to House group and participating in their weekly potluck meal (6pm).
To the Prayers
- By purchasing a notebook or journal and beginning a daily prayer journal.
- By partnering with a trusted friend to pray for one another daily and at least once a month with one another.
- By participating at least once a month in the Sunday morning prayer meeting in Pastor Matt’s study (9:30am).
- By making better use of the prayer chain emails, perhaps using a prayer journal.
