Events and Fellowship

And all who believed were together and had all things in common. -Acts 2:44

Fellowship is an important part of the Christian life; but it’s much more than sitting shoulder-to-shoulder on Sunday mornings or eating potluck meals together.

Fellowship is a rich idea. It’s mixing lives together. It’s strengthening each other through genuine, authentic relationships. It’s knowing each other. It’s encouraging, forgiving and teaching each other. It’s sharing possessions. It’s being patient with each others’ shortcomings. It’s marching together into the same battles on the same journey as we cultivate deep love for God and people and make disciples.

On Sunday, June 3, we had a simple worship gathering and then some time to enjoy being together as a family. Events like this are worthwhile because we don’t just love each other, we like each other. But events such as this won’t produce fellowship. They are celebrations of the fellowship we have in Christ.

If you want to produce fellowship, pray for someone, call someone, send a note to someone, open your home to someone, invite someone over for dinner – mix your life with the lives of others.
