1. Focus on building the kingdom of God, not the church. (Hugh Halter)
Jesus told us to make disciples. He said he would build his church. Taking on the job of building the church places a burden on our shoulders we weren’t meant to bear.
2. The church is a sail boat, not a motor boat. (Terry Sullivan)
All the organizational mechanics in the world won’t propel the church. We need the supernatural power of God in our sails.
3. Church without walls. (Sullivan)
This is the idea that Christians shouldn’t box up their mission within church walls, but be a part of their communities.
4. People don’t usually stay away from good news. (Halter)
Hmm….
5. Five traps that percent churches from changing the world. (Richard Stearns)
After hearing statistics like over 22,000 kids under five years old die everyday due to poverty related plight, I’m ready to do something to change the world. But there are traps to crawl out of:
a. Valuing belief over behavior
b. Replacing exhortation with explanation
c. Turning inward rather than outward
d. Prioritizing institution over revolution
e. Replacing outrage with apathy
Thank you to the guys and gals at ACGC for putting this together.
