Sunday School, House to House and the Big Gathering

This post is meant to bring clarity about three of our regular gatherings. I hope it’s helpful.

Sunday School

Sunday School classes meet every Sunday morning at 10am. These classes major in teaching and minor in fellowship. We currently have seven adult classes to choose from on a range of topics, but all aimed at learning from the Bible.  Depending on the class, classes may include much conversation and even hanging out together during the week. Each quarter we refresh the classes and teachers.

House to House

House to House groups meet during the week. We currently have only two groups, but I hope to add at least one more by the end of the year. These groups major in fellowship around discussion of the scripture preached on the previous Sunday. One group meets at the church (Wednesdays at 6pm) and shares a weekly potluck meal. The other group meets at Ron and Jan Thomas’ house (Mondays at 7pm). Future groups are encouraged to meet in homes.

Sunday School and/or House to House?

My hope as your pastor is that you will be involved in one or the other. Of course, it’s great if you can be involved in both, but I believe that if you are a consistently active part of one or the other you will enjoy both good teaching and good fellowship, which are essential to your growth as a Christian.

The worship service simply isn’t enough to sustain you. During the worship service you have little fellowship contact with your brothers and sisters and no opportunity to discuss your questions or add your input. Sunday School and House to House are great avenues for both.

The Big Gathering

This year we will only be planning Big Gatherings during the summer months (June, July and August). These are big gatherings at 6pm on the final Wednesday of the month during which a meal is provided and I get to teach in a less formal setting than the Sunday worship service. Since I teach the youth during Sunday School and on Wednesday nights, these are precious opportunities for me.

All of these gatherings are open to visitors and friends who’d like to drop in.
