Facebook Might Be Killing Us

The woman of folly is boisterous…
She sits at the doorway…
Calling to those who pass by,
Who are making their paths straight:
"Turn in here,
Stolen water is sweet;
And bread eaten in secret is pleasant."
But he doesn't know that the dead are there…
Proverbs 9:13-18 (condensed)

Folly is loud like dropped dishes. We can't help but investigate the racket. Her message: "Take what's not yours and enjoy it in secret." From a stolen glance to a secret minute on Facebook, she's always yelling for us to do something other than what we should be doing.

Beware: her diversions lead to death. Concentration dies. Productivity dies. Honesty dies. Careers die. Relationships die. Before we know it, we'll die having done nothing of lasting importance. May we walk straight paths today and not divert to see what she's shouting about.
